The Day of Golf is Less Than Two Weeks Away, and We Need Your Help!

Every year, thousands of Albertans hear the life-altering words, "You have cancer."

Almost everyone has a friend or family member who has been touched by cancer.

In Alberta, the four most common cancers are soft tissue cancers: breast, prostate, colorectal, and lung cancer. While significant progress has been achieved in cancer care, together we have the chance to fund a huge step forward in treating solid tumour cancers, and we need your help.

In the past 39 years, the Cure Cancer Foundation’s Day of Golf has raised over $17 million to support cancer research and treatment. This year's funding will go toward the purchase and instillation of an MR-Sim at the Cross Cancer Institute. This cutting-edge device will dramatically improve doctors' ability to treat soft-tissue cancers by providing clearer, more precise imaging.

MR-Sim

The MR-Sim is a cutting-edge device that improves radiation therapy by
providing clear, high-resolution images of tumours, allowing for precise
targeting and less damage to healthy tissues. Less damage to healthy tissues means faster recovery times for patients and less chance of recurrence.

Par for a Cure!

Help us bring the life-saving MR-Sim to Edmonton.

Since the par at the Derek Golf and Winter Club is 70, we are asking for a one-time $70 donation.

Your donation will directly support the purchase and installation of an MR-Sim at the Cross Cancer Institute.

The Alberta Cancer Foundation issues your charitable tax receipt as the campaign partner of the Cure Cancer Foundation.

Immunotherapy

Immunotherapy is a new way of attacking cancer that is different than
chemotherapy and radiation. Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy takes the patient’s T-cells and genetically manipulates them to add chimeric antigen receptors onto them. This acts as a new barcode reader, helping the T-cell recognize cancer and activating the T-cell. Once the immune system can identify cancer cells again, the host has a better chance of fighting the disease.

Stream Flo's MR-Sim Contribution

One of the partners of the Day of Golf, Stream-Flo Group of Companies, set out to raise $1.5 million to help purchase and install the MR-Sim late in 2023. Stream-Flo and McNeill family have been long time supporters of the Day of Golf and the work to fund exciting research and treatments .

Under the leadership of Mark McNeill, Stream-Flo Group President and CEO, the company gave corporately, hosted employee events, and other fundraisers to encourage donations. Stream-Flo also contacted their suppliers and industry contacts and asked them to contribute to this important cause.

Stream-Flo has raised a substantial amount which will be announced at the Day of Golf.

Join Stream-Flo, Mark, and the Cure Cancer Foundation in our mission to bring this state-of-the-art equipment to patients as quickly as possible.
